Israel Culture Centers - Ilana Goor Museum
Cultural Fields: Israel Culture Centers
Genres: Museum
Languages: French, Hebrew, English, Russian
Focus:
The Ilana Goor Museum is located in ancient Jaffa, in an 18th century building facing the ocean.
About:

The structure in which the museum “lives” is 250 years old. It was built by Jewish pilgrims that came to Israel from Turkey as a place of rest and refuge for others  who were coming to Israel by way of the Jaffa harbor. Jewish immigrants would spend several days in the building before continuing their journey to Jerusalem.

Ilana Goor has remodeled the building while preserving the ancient characteristics of the 18th century architecture.
The Museum exhibits several of Ilana’s sculptures, as well as international and national artists such as; Giacometti, Soto, Moore, Agam, Kadishman, and more.

Visiting the Ilana Goor Museum is a truly sensual experience. The visitors are given the opportunity to see versatile works of art in the context of Old Jaffa’s breathtaking beauty and the magnificence of the harbor, which can be seen through every window, while also peeking into the life of Goor herself, as the Museum is also her private home.

Ilana Goor’s art is powerful and distinct. Whether it is furniture, jewelry, sculptur or fashion- there is one thing all of her creations share in common: an expressive presence that moves the viewer inwardly and grabs their attention. Even metal gives way under Goor’s touch and is transformed into a living, breathing entity.

Offering:

Private and Business events: formal dinners, family celebrations, social events, ceremonies, and committees.
During the summer months, events are also held on the ocean-facing balconies.

Events held at the museum take on an exotic and rare atmosphere on the background of the ancient building, the works of art, and the ocean, which come together to create magical space.
Celebrations and events are customized to personal need and are executed with diligence and class.

Guided tours for all ages:
Tours for adults are made available in two main forms:
Guided Tour- 45-60 minutes long: With a professional art guide. Every room contains art from different time periods and cultures, and every piece contains its own story and content. The distinctiveness of the Museum lies in the unexpected connections and contrasts brought forth by the artists, visually as well as content-wise. This contrast allows for a “visual dialogue” between objects, which provides an element of surprise and freshness to the collection.
Coffee and Pastry- Two hours long. Includes a museum tour at the end of which guests are offered a selection of hot/cold beverages and baked goods (buffet), while listening to soothing background music in one of the museums most charming spaces.

Experience-based learning tours for school/kindergarten age children:
The tours are interactive and conducted by an experienced guide. During the tour, the kids go on an “adventure” in the museum, uncovering mysteries and codes, and eventually finding a precious treasure. At the end of the tour the kids are given activities that they can continue to work on at home. Experiencing the museum invites children to discover and explore the world of art actively, while also exposing  them to authentic culture staples and symbols and developing critical thinking, expressive abilities, imagination, values, and of course, enjoyment within the stimulating environment of the museum.
